Role of the person in charge of a sale
The person in charge of a sale is the person given responsibility for organizing and holding the sale of the seized or hypothecated property. This person is often a bailiff, and in other cases a person designated by the court.
The person's main duties are to:
- inform interested parties (creditor, debtor, purchaser, etc.) about the person's role and the steps in the process;
- publish notices concerning the sale in the Sales Register;
- complete the sale in the most advantageous way for the debtor and creditor;
- distribute the proceeds of the sale as provided for by law.
